A season of highs and low

It was certainly a season of extreme highs and extreme lows.

In January 2019 our change rooms was torched by fire.  Then teamed with an unusually long wet season we were faced with many challenges.  We were unable to train at our home grounds Power Park until June.  Instead we could only train on a small rugby field with no lighting.

However in the preseason our boys travelled to Townsville to participate in their association's preseason cup.  Despite coming up against senior teams our boys played their hearts out in the heat and claimed the cup.

Normally tradition means premiership teams unfurl their premiership flag at their first home game on the following season.  Unfortunately we would not do this until half way through the season.

Injuries, player moving for work reduced our player numbers at the end of the season and our boys quest to play finals fell short.  Finishing fifth certainly did not reflect the potential of this team.

Late 2019 the club had to make the hard decision not to field a team in the AFL Cairns competition in 2020.  We certainly will be working to not only fielding a reserve team but also a senior team in the not too distant future.
